YB DATUK MOHAMMADDIN BIN KETAPI
Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia
The Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture Malaysia (MOTAC) is proud to support the inaugural World Hospitality, Lifestyle & Entertainment Exhibition and Conference (WHOLE) 2020.
It gives me great pleasure to bid everyone – Selamat datang or Welcome to Malaysia, a country blessed with beautiful flora and fauna, diverse ethnicity and backgrounds, contributing to a unique potpourri of cultures and traditions. Well known for our warm hospitality and world class facility, Malaysia is a wonderful place for organising business events or MICE (Meetings,
Incentives, Conventions & Exhibitions).
I am happy to note that MOTAC through its agency the Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau (MyCEB) is aggressively supporting the development and promotion of Business Events (BE) in Malaysia. Last year, MyCEB secured more than 152 future events comprising of international conferences, incentive groups and association meetings and trade exhibitions that would collectively bring more than 102,211 international delegates, translating into an estimated economic impact of RM1.575 billion.
I also wish to take this opportunity to encourage delegates to make time to explore and experience Penang, Malaysia’s “Pearl of the Orient”. The staging of this event in Penang blends well with Penang Year 2020 and Visit Truly Asia Malaysia 2020 campaign. Penang was chosen to hold the WHOLE 2020 as it has been well known for its UNESCO World Heritage City. Delegates may also indulge in numerous selections of food at the famous food street or fine dining restaurants. I wish to congratulate Alpine Group Services, the organiser of WHOLE 2020 with the collaboration of the Penang government, for successfully organising the country’s first hospitality exhibition. It is also my pleasant joy to welcome all delegates of WHOLE 2020 and wish everyone a fruitful and successful event.
